About Marianne

People often ask me how I became a web designer. The truth is—I didn't. I became an educator. Long before I ever built websites, I was teaching first-time homebuyers, counseling families, writing grants, facilitating workshops, underwriting FHA condominium approvals, helping people purchase homes, and connecting communities with resources that could change their lives. Looking back, I realize those weren't different careers. They were different chapters of the same story. For more than twenty years, my life's work has centered on one purpose: helping people gain access to opportunities that improve lives. Today, I do that through technology. Social With Marianne has been serving clients for several years, but I've recently made the intentional decision to specialize in supporting Black empowerment organizations. My goal is to help organizations like yours create digital spaces that reflect the strength of their mission and make it easier for people to connect with their work. Every day, organizations across the country are changing lives through education, mentorship, housing, workforce development, health initiatives, advocacy, and community outreach. Yet many of them struggle with outdated websites, disconnected social media, and digital platforms that make it difficult for people to find the very resources designed to help them. To me, that's more than a technology problem. It's a community connection problem. When someone can't find a mentoring program... When a family doesn't know housing assistance exists... When a young entrepreneur never discovers a local organization ready to help... Communities miss opportunities they may never get back. That's why I do this work. Throughout my career, I've learned that the tools may change, but the mission remains the same. I've been a housing educator. A housing counselor. A mortgage consultant. An FHA underwriter. A licensed Realtor. A content creator. A workshop facilitator. A website designer. A social media strategist. Those may sound like different careers, but they all taught me the same lesson: Information only changes lives when people can access it. Today, websites and social media are often the front door to an organization. If that front door is confusing, outdated, or difficult to navigate, people may never discover the programs, services, and opportunities waiting inside. I want to change that. I'm also a lifelong learner. I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD until later in life, and suddenly so much of my journey made sense. My curiosity has always led me to explore new ideas, master new skills, and continuously reinvent the tools I use to serve others. What once felt like taking an unconventional path, I now recognize as one of my greatest strengths. It allows me to connect ideas, solve problems creatively, and bring a unique perspective to every project. At 62, I've found the work I want to do for the rest of my life. This isn't another career change. It's the culmination of everything I've learned. Every website I build... Every piece of content I write... Every digital strategy I develop... ...is created with one purpose: Helping Black empowerment organizations reach more people, strengthen their communities, and expand their impact. If you're wondering whether I'm the right partner for your organization, I have a simple philosophy: I can show you better than I can tell you. I invite you to explore my portfolio, review my case studies, and see the work for yourself. Because when organizations thrive, communities thrive. And that's the legacy I want to help build.
